EU Batteries Regulation general information label applies from 18 August 2026

From 18 August 2026, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 requires batteries placed on the EU market to carry the Annex VI Part A information label covering manufacturer, battery category, chemistry, capacity and hazardous-substance details. The separate QR-code and battery-passport obligations follow on 18 February 2027.
Why it matters
Any seller placing batteries or battery-containing goods (electronics, toys, power tools) on EU marketplaces must confirm suppliers apply the Annex VI Part A label to units first sold on or after 18 August 2026; existing stock can sell through, but non-compliant new placements risk correction or withdrawal by market-surveillance authorities. Commission label artwork and supplier specs now, and treat 18 February 2027 (QR code) as the next checkpoint.
