EU €3 flat customs duty on low-value parcels (≤€150) enters into force on 1 July, ending the de minimis exemption

Source: European Commission, DG TAXUD · 8 June 2026

What happened

With one week to go, the Commission's June guidance and legal text for the temporary €3 per-item duty on non-EU consignments up to €150 is in final-prep mode for the 1 July live date, running until 1 July 2028.

Why it matters

Brands fulfilling cross-border from outside the EU into marketplaces (Amazon, Kaufland, bol, Allegro) need landed-cost models, IOSS flows and listing prices updated this week or margins compress on every order from Monday.

02

Amazon Prime Day 2026 closed 26 June with U.S. online spending of $26.4B per Adobe, beating forecasts

Source: Bloomberg via Fortune · 27 June 2026

What happened

Adobe Analytics, cited by Bloomberg, reported U.S. cross-retail online spend of $26.4B over the four-day event, ~9% above 2025 and ahead of the $26.3B pre-event estimate.

Why it matters

The June timing (vs. historical July) pulled forward summer demand across all major EU marketplaces, lifting traffic on bol, Allegro and Kaufland as shoppers comparison-priced, and reset Q3 inventory planning for sellers everywhere.

03

Vinted quietly launches in Australia with an AusPost partnership, going live to consumers on 1 July

Source: Inside Retail · 25 June 2026

What happened

Europe's largest second-hand marketplace, headquartered in Vilnius, opened a localised Australian site this week without a formal press launch, partnering with Australia Post for fulfilment.

Why it matters

Vinted is becoming a global resale player that EU brands cannot ignore: cross-listing flows now reach Australia, and the secondary market keeps gaining structural share against new-goods marketplaces; relevant for apparel, electronics and homewares brands sold across EU platforms.
